From outdoor adventures like Adirondack rafting to museum tours, there are hundreds of things to do just minutes from the front door of our Adirondack resort.

The Hudson River Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater Rafting is a fantastic way to see the Adirondack Park. The Hudson River Gorge, a 17 mile wild ride that runs April through Columbus Day is listed as one of the top 10 Whitewater rafting trips in the US. Class III –IV+. Scenic Train

For those that prefer a leisurely afternoon excursion, The Saratoga and North Creek Railroad's Merganser offers north and southbound scenic rides  Thursday through Monday between North Creek and Thurman.  Riding past the ducks to which the train pays homage, the Merganser travels along the Hudson River for a relaxing afternoon journey through the Southern Adirondacks.

 

Outdoor Activities

Are you ready for Adventure? If you are a pro or a novice, the Lake George/Gore Mountain Region is the place to spread your wings and fly. And fly you can, whether it is to take in a bird's eye view from a float plane flying out of Long Lake or if flying down a zipline at Adirondack Extreme Adventure.

If you prefer to keep you feet on the ground, hiking & biking (both road and mountain), trails are abundant in this neck of the woods. The Copperfield Inn Resort can supply you with the maps or set you up with a guide.  Looking to tune in with nature and wildlife? Head out on horseback, or ATV, at one of fine riding stables in the area. Go fishing or learn how to fish, spots some birds, hit the links. There are more than 15 golf courses within a 20 mile radius of The Copperfield.  Still not enough, then head underground at Natural Stone Bridges and Caves or let a NYS licensed outfitter put that Spelunker hat on your head and go subterranean.

 

Museums, Galleries, Antique and Specialty Shops

The Lake George/Gore Mountain Region, in New York is home to the Adirondack Museum .  This not to be missed museum reflects stories of life, work, and play in the Adirondack Park and northern New York State.  Also be sure to visit The North Creek Depot Museum , right across the street from The Copperfield.  Situated within the historic North Creek train station, the museum has a wonderful scale model of historic trains created by the world renowned Dunham Studios.  The museum also has exhibits which celebrate Teddy Roosevelt's ride to the presidency and well as the history of Ski trains and the development of skiing at Gore Mountain.

New York, New York! The 20th Century with More than sixty paintings, photographs, sculptures, and works on paper that capture urban New York City.  And no trip to North Creek is complete without stopping by The Hudson River Trading Company across from The Copperfield on Main Street.

Events and Entertainment

How about a festival? Want to race the train? Join us for an all out Blue Grass Festival. Then there is the Gore Mountain Harvest Fest.

Every Thursday North Creek hosts the Farmer's Market on the Hudson. Entertainment, kid's activities and wonderful, locally produced foods and quality artisan crafts.

New York State is home to some of the most talented people in the world. And the Central Adirondack region is the place these talented folks love to call home. Trappers Tavern showcases great musicians on Saturday nights and great starter specials. Wednesday nights head across the street to Bar Vino for jazz entertainment. Walk to the other end of town to view the wonderful works of art and photography displayed at Tannery Pond Community Center.
